here I let you delight yourselves at what I call the classroom of the future.
You migth be thinking 100 years if you’re under 9 years old. You migth be thinking of 20 years if you’re under 20. You migth be thinking in 10, but I am talking about 5 years.
By 2016 classrooms will be multiple places, laboratories where kids will learn to play, interact and implement the knowledge they are learning. They will learn math, history and geography in games and exercices. They will learn the idioms through technologies that emulate human interacion, they will have literacy, literature and poetry classes, where they do their best, then will publish this content in their blog, wich is part of his and her digital dossie. Kids will play pshysics and chemistry on field examples and software simulation, where they will exercise reversing the natural logic in the virtual worlds they can invent. And how they can invent.
But the biggest change for the next 5 years reside in the fact that kids will be coding younger and younger, taking software products to unimaginable levels as they start from very young age to get used to the wiki changes that society is getting used in the last 5 years by the insertion of more and more technology in day to day life.
Kids will be able to code at 7 by year 2016, and some amazing novice geniuses will surprise the world with their new ways of apply solutions in simple ways and to specific needs. But for the sake of society and the calm of the digital illiterate, by the year 2016 kids will start coding classes in public schools from USA, Germany, Israel and Brazil (I really hope) by the age of 13.
Some will be very, very premature and will surprise parents, teachers and peers with strong appetite for knowledge and reward, as they start producing, not exactly working, but creating with extreme quality and sophistication, influencing their close friends, family and communities of shared interest, as the world gets more and more collaborative as well as global.
Reputation will be something almost mesurable for his kids, as they can project circles of interest among the many people they are allowed to reach in the 2016 society. Kids are going to learn spontaneously how to behave and express themselves in the social networks that are going to permeate his or her social graphs, with an incredible capacity to adapt to diferent identities in many diferent channels and groups, youngs will learn how to ensure their interests with peer recomendation.
Politics will face servere changes and remodeling when this youngs gets old.
Video games play an important role in this educational process, as kids lose resistance to the dynamic of software interaction, simulation and presence. Youngs learn some really necessary logic, emotional and practical skills when well oriented in the gaming education process. Techniques like Kumon can be applied to math as well as idioms in interactive and visual game platforms, with precise and deep behavior analysis of how a specific kid act and how best he or she can be instructed to improve in learning. Many personality disorders will be traced in this process.
In short, the classroom of 2016 will reflect exactly what the society of 2016 projects for itself, and I really believe in all is said above.
